Food For Thought, Chapter 1

So my roommate prepared the most amazing dinner tonight. Broiled salmon, zucchini & yellow squash with garlic spinach, and jasmine rice. I did assist by cutting the salmon so it would fit in the broiling pan (". . . and I he-elped!!). It was sooooo good! It's a good thing he is on a bit of a health(-ier) eating kick. It will make the nutrition end of P90X that much easier to do. Of course, I would probably replace the jasmine (as yummy as it is) with brown rice (which he absolutely detests, unfortunately). But still, it's good to know that I won't have to deal with food issues with him, since we both are trying to eat better and lose some pounds.

He saw me previewing the Yoga X DVD this weekend and said "Oh, I'll do THAT with you, but not that other lifting and running and jumping stuff." Obviously, he didn't see the more "interesting" parts of the yoga exercises, or I don't think he would've said that . . .

So counting down to next Monday when the X-Festivities begin!! WOO to the HOO!!

Yoga to be kidding me!!!

So tonight I previewd the Yoga X DVD. Oh, to the My! It started off so nicely, and then it went all kinda nuts when Tony and his crew started contorting themselves into pretzels! The Crane looks totally crazy. And that thing where they were on the shoulders with legs in the air, then spread, then lowered over they heads. Say, what?? If I could do that, I would be so much more popular!

Anyway, I suppose that just gives me even more to work towards, right? I still have a few more of the DVDs to preview as I get closer to my start date of July 5. I am really looking forward to getting underway with P90X.

Really!! I am!!

What have I gotten myself into?

So I got my P90X DVDs and bands and pull-up bar last week. I've been previewing the workouts to get a better idea of what's in store for me. And it looks like I am gonna be workin' my butt off, among other things . . . . But any endeavor worth achieving is gonna take hard work. Upon watching the workouts, I can see that even though it's gonna be tough, most of the moves are not insurmountable. I like that Tony and his crew provide modifications for limited ability. It gives you something to work toward and will make goal-making much easier. I also like how some of the people are not to-the-letter perfect on the workouts. It's kind of refreshing to see that these people who are in phenominal shape are also very human. If they can stumble, or break form or get left behind a little, or be over-zealous and leap ahead, then so can I. This is gonna be great . . . .

Starting from scratch . . .

So, I think I know what I am gonna do with this blog, now. In the next couple of weeks or so, I will be embarking on a new journey. After weeks of researching, and blog hunting, and Facebook message board perusing, I am gonna start doing P90X! Yes, me. Doing P90X. This should be an interesting trip and I hope you join me for the ride! I will be posting pics and tracking my progress, and using this to keep myself accountable, and hopefully inspire a few people along the way. My target date to begin is Monday, July 5. And I won't strictly post P90X related info, but will also drop in some other entertaining tidbits as well. So I will see you here soon and from now on. I would completely appreciate any words of encourament you may have to offer. So get ready to "Push Play" with me and "BRING IT!!"

Me and Tony Horton are about to become really close friends . . .
